How class packs and credits work for a gym, studio or coach

A pack is a bundle of sessions sold at a discount. A credit is one session inside the pack. The customer buys the pack once, then spends credits by booking. Here's how we set them up and the decisions that matter.

The decisions

  • Pack sizes and prices. Most clients run three: a small pack at full price per session, a middle one at a discount, a large one at the best rate. Example from a boxing coach: 4 for $200, 8 for $360, 10 for $400.
  • Expiry. Credits with no expiry become a liability you carry forever. 90 days from purchase is the common choice; 60 for drop-in style, longer for programs.
  • Which classes a pack covers. A pack can be locked to one class type (a 6-week program) or open to all. Locking it keeps a program's revenue separate.
  • Packs only, or drop-ins too. A program with a start date sells packs only. An ongoing class usually allows a single drop-in at a higher price.
  • Family bookings. A parent buys the pack and books their kids against it. Each kid is a family member on the parent's account.

What the customer sees

Buy a pack on the site. Get an email code to log in. Book a class with one credit. See credits left. Cancel inside your window and the credit returns.

What you see

Who has credits, who's booked, who no-showed. Adjust a credit when something goes wrong. Block a date, and everyone booked gets their credit back and an email.

Founder offers

Launching? Double the credits for the first N buyers at the normal price. Cap it by count, not date, and show the count on the site. "7 of 20 left" sells better than "ends Friday".
